Spade Racing Opens a Box of 2023 Donruss Cards, Pack 8 of 24

Pack 8: Bad Brad, a little sad, and a Mad Lad

FIRST LOOK: So what was the direction for this shot?  “OK Brad, make a face like you’ve just been told your order isn’t ready yet even though three people behind you in line have gotten theirs”.

TO THE BACK: Not to be “that guy”, but I’m guessing Natalie has a lot of fans because she’s pretty.  Hey—I deal with it all the time.

SAY WHAT: “Grrr—this is my game face.  Or should that be raceday face?”

RATING: 3 charters out of 10

Musically Declined: Lonnie Hillard’s Race Tracks II, My Car Gets Wide

Stock Car Racing and Country Music—two pillars of culture in the Southern United States.  And the two have mingled throughout the years.  So put on your racing shoes, make sure they match your cowboy hat, and settle in for a look back at some of Nascar’s biggest stars turned Nashville wannabes!

The Song: My Car Gets Wide

The Star: Kenny Wallace

The Clip:

The Review: Hmm…Kenny’s only on the second verse (which you hear here) and you know what?  He ain’t half bad.  Helps that he sounds like he’s actually trying.  The song itself is ok, if a bit repetitive.

The Verdict: Just ok, like a lapped car blocking the leader from passing.

2024 Nascar National Touring Series Schedule Matrix

Here it is—Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series schedules for 2024 all in one place!  Here’s the biggest changes:

—Iowa Speedway gets its first Cup race.  While running at a 7/8th mile “action track” is likely to be thrilling, it DOES mean more interviews with Rusty Wallace.

—Auto Club Speedway (aka California Speedway) is off the schedule completely.  While this is, theoretically, to allow time to convert the track into a half-mile high-banked short track, the lack of actual work being done makes me think it’s just an excuse.  Like when you skip three straight summer trips to “save money for the pool”.

—Bristol’s spring race returns to its original concrete surface, thus making Nascar Cup’s return-to-dirt experiment a pretty expensive waste of time, much like the Cup career of Buckshot Jones.

—The annual trip to Indy will return the race to the oval.  I’m guessing it takes approximately eight laps for fans to realize how terrible the racing is there, and why Nascar moved to the road course in the first place.

—The Chicago street course race is, in theory, returning, thus giving schmucks online plenty of Facebook threads to spread their ignorance.

—There’s a two-weekend late-summer break to allow NBC and USA to air the Summer Olympics.  Sorry, but tape-delayed badminton coverage takes precedence.
