NASCAR ROTY RANKINGS 2011: Ranking the Rookie of the Year Classes Through the Years

Andy Lally
Join me as we take a look at every NASCAR Cup Rookie of the Year class from 1972 (the start of the modern era) through 2021, going from the worst to the first in terms of overall careers of each year’s rookie class.

2011

Winner: Andy Lally (TRG).  Runners Up: none.  Aborted Attempts: T. J. Bell, Brian Keselowski

How their careers turned out: Nothing against Andy Lally or The Racers Group, but we’re basically talking about a road course ringer who happened to run a full season for a team one step about a start-and-park operation.  Thankfully 2011 was one of the most-exciting years in Nascar history, filled with first-time winners, a thrilling championship battle, and Kyle Busch being suspended.

“Fun” “Fact” about the winner: Andy Lally is a world-champion street luge racer.  Street luge, by the way, is that thing that always seemed to be on ESPN2 in 1996.

Ranking: #46 out of 50
