Join me as we take a look at every NASCAR Cup Rookie of the Year class from 1972 (the start of the modern era) through 2021, going from the worst to the first in terms of overall careers of each year’s rookie class.
Winner: Brett Moffitt (Front Row/MWR). Runners Up: Matt DiBenedetto (BK), Jeb Burton (BK), Alex Kennedy. Aborted Attempts: Tanner Berryhill
How their careers turned out: Brett Moffitt has gone on to a decent career in Nascar, albeit mostly in the Truck Series. Matt DiBenedetto came close to breaking through with a Cup win, but fell short and now seems to just whine all the time. Jeb Burton has spent most of his career in mid-pack equipment, while Alex Kennedy seems to have vanished from Nascar after 2016.
“Fun” “Fact” about the winner: Brett Moffitt is single-handedly trying to bring the mustache back to Nascar. “Sometimes hopeless causes are the only ones worth fighting for.”
