Spade Racing Opens a Box of 2024 Donruss Cards, Pack 21 of 24

PACK 21: Mello Yello, a number that’s low, and a driver who’s slow

FIRST LOOK: I never got Mello Yello’s slogan during this time of “there’s nothing mellow about it”.  It would be like if today Monster said “there’s nothing monster about it”.

TO THE BACK: Double-o-seven is James Bond.  Single-o-seven is this random Sheldon Creed card.

SAY WHAT?: “Oh yeah?  Well I’m still faster than my brother”.

RATING: 4 spark plugs out of 10

Spade Racing Opens a Box of 2024 Select ’24 Cards, Pack 5 of 12

PACK 5: Fabric, Elliott, and no lips (and other slant rhymes!)

FIRST LOOK: Here we have a swatch of developmental driver and Petty family associate Daniel Dye.  Double-D moves to Kaulig next year, where he’ll likely have to pitch-in on helping to clean up after Ty Dillon’s wrecks.

TO THE BACK: “You never want to put the cart before the horse” and you never wanted to put the CART on tv instead of Nascar in the late-90’s.

SAY WHAT?: (muffled) “My lips are gone!”

RATING: 7 pit stops out of 10

Spade Racing Opens a Box of 2024 Donruss Cards, Pack 20 of 24

PACK 20: SVG, Keselowski, and who he be?

FIRST LOOK: An SVG Optic Rated Rookie!  Pretty cool rookie card for the hottest new driver of 2023.  Although I don’t really know what “enhanced health” is or why its in lower case.

TO THE BACK: I’m going to take a wild guess and say that you measure progress as a Nascar team owner by points results and race wins.

SAY WHAT?: “Who am I?”

RATING: 3 tires out of 10

Spade Racing Opens a Box of 2024 Select ’24 Cards, Pack 4 of 12

PACK 4: Autograph, a numbered path, and doing the math

FIRST LOOK: Now THIS is an autograph!  Not only is it from a damn successful driver, but it’s clear and easy to read.  Legendary, indeed!  I wonder what would happen if I sent it to JR Motorsports to be autographed—would Dale Jr. just send it back as-is, or would the fabric of time collapse upon itself?

TO THE BACK: Number 120 of 199 of this variant, in which Justin Marks talks about how much he loves his driver.  Again, you’d think stuff like this would just be a given—with the possible exception of Elliott Sadler’s last year with RPM.

SAY WHAT?: “Eventually I have to keep a Cup ride for more than a year, right?”

RATING: 10 hot laps out of 10
