Throwback Weekend: Sparky Plugg


In honor of Nascar’s annual throwback weekend, please enjoy this signed print of the concept artwork for the WWF’s Thurman “Sparky” Plugg, the first (and to date only) Nascar driving WWF Superstar!

I purchased this at WrestleCon in Philadelphia (during WrestleMania weekend) directly from Tom Fleming, the artist who designed and drew it way back when.  He didn’t have a copy to purchase right there, so he mailed this to me a few days later.  I’m guessing this is the first time anyone has spent put this much time into Sparky Plugg since the early-90’s (and even then it might be more now).

It just goes to show you that if you wait long enough, you can get proof of your obsessions crossing over!

Darlington Race Picks: Uncle Max vs. 13th Place



Boom!  I have my summer vacation plans ready to go!  I’ll be taking my annual trip to my buddy’s shore house at the start of June, ready and willing to barbecue for the guests and any visitors we might get!

Of course now comes the tough part—muddling through four weeks of work to get to my vacation.  In a weird way this is when I hope to be busier than usual—give me a big organization project and the time will just fly by.  If not I have to make sure nobody catches me daydreaming about getting the perfect sear on a black n bleu burger on the grill.

Sunday CUP SERIES Goodyear 400: 13th Place Picks JOHN HUNTER NEMECHEK.  FAVORITE (1 win): DENNY HAMLIN—will he exit the car and call The Lady in Black One Tough Mother?  NEXT FAVORITE: WILLIAM BYRON—he just knows how to win.  DARK HORSE: CHRIS BUESCHER—two words: Fuel Mileage.

PACK 11: An Autograph (Nice), Bubba Twice, and the Coliseum will Suffice


FIRST LOOK: Here’s our third autograph of this box, and it’s of Trucks & Xfinity mainstay Brett Moffit.  I’m hoping he eventually gets a decent shot in a Cup car, and not with some obscure backmarker team with a name like “Velocity Force Motorsports” or “Mach III Ventures” or “Rick Ware Racing”.


TO THE BACK: Double your Bubba, double your fun!  But these are pretty banal facts, aren’t they?


SAY WHAT?: “I don’t get why we’re racing inside a stadium either, but at least it’s nicer than Rockingham looks now.
