As Nascar prepares to race in the desert, I have something to say to all those “it’s a sports desert between the Super Bowl and March Madness people”—you’re wrong!
Not only do you have the Daytona 500, but you get the IndyCar opener, the “meat” of the NBA season, and (new for this year) the NHL’s 4 Nations Cup. And let’s not forget baseball’s spring training, when every team can think they have a shot to win the World Series (except the White Sox). So if you think there’s a five to six week gap in your sports watching schedule, you’re not watching hard enough!
TRUCK SERIES (1 win) off
XFINITY SERIES GovX 200 (Saturday 2pm ET on The CW) ALEX BOWMAN—Bowman the showman, and in the desert he’s a go-man.
CUP SERIES Shriners Children’s 500 (Sunday 3:30pm ET on FS1) Points Leader picks WILLIAM BYRON. Favorite: CHRISTOPHER BELL—hopefully I’m not jumping on this bandwagon a week too late. Next Favorite: RYAN BLANEY—turn up the wick, win a race, then dominate in the playoffs. Dark Horse: JOSH BERRY—would be cool too see the Wood Brothers win again.
