11 Against The World, a Spade Racing Investigation

This is a parody

Upon winning last week’s race at Martinsville, Denny Hamlin unfurled an “11 against the world” flag.  But what world was he referring to?  Let’s break down the candidates:

The World Islands, an archipelago of small man-made islands off the coast of Dubai.  POSSIBILITY: low—I’m guessing most of Denny’s spare time is spent worrying about his lawsuit against Nascar, not hating on a vanity project in the middle east.

The World, a former Times Square Nightclub owned by the WWE.  POSSIBILITY: high—Denny is probably a lot like me, desperately searching for a conversation where he can point out that because Vince McMahon wound up selling the former WWF New York property, he is quite literally The Man Who Sold The World.

The World, a biweekly newspaper in Coos Bay Oregon.  POSSIBILITY: unknown—does anyone know if they picked Denny to miss the playoffs in their 2025 Nascar Cup preview?

The World, a former New York City newspaper.  POSSIBILITY: very high—this newspaper basically invented the crossword puzzle, and I doubt Denny likes seeing clues for a four-letter word like “Driver who actually won the race in Milwaukee”.
