Musically Declined: Nascar Runnin’ Wide Open—Cadillac Ranch

in 1995 Nascar was starting to get hot.  Jeff Gordon was on his way to his first Cup championship, TV ratings were on the rise, and for the first time ever, stock car racing was somewhat cool.  So what better way to celebrate the sport’s success than with an album of bland middle-of-the-road country music?

The Song: Cadillac Ranch

The Star: Rick Trevino

The Clip: https://youtu.be/9NlLf9_6f_8?si=4ow0lkkXST2nW3OM

The Review: An alright song weighed down by its subject/title.  Barring a few early races, who associates Cadillacs with Nascar?  Then again this song also mentions the noted Nascar hotbed of Houston.

The Verdict: Good music, irrelevant lyrics.
